Claudio De Negri, Secretary of the Chilean Communist Party’s Central Committee still vividly remembers the melody of the "Ballad of Ho Chi Minh" that he and thousands of Chileans sang in the main square of Santiago de Chile during a march in support of Vietnam in the late 1960s.

Vietnam’s April 30, 1975 victory in its struggle for independence and the Soviet Union’s May 9, 1945 triumph in the Great Patriotic War stand as two of the most glorious milestones in the 20th century, said Secretary of the Communist Party of Chile Central Committee De Negri.
