Over 140 kg of pangolins seized in Ha Tinh

The animals were discovered after police performed a search on a suspicious 16-seater vehicle that was travelling from the Cau Treo international border gate to the town of Tay Son in Huong Son district at 12:00 on July 29. At the scene, officers discovered 30 live pangolins which had been hidden behind the driver.

The suspects were identified by the authorities as Phan Van Dung and Nguyen Thi Lai.

The two traffickers admitted to being hired by a Lao national for the purpose of transporting the pangolins across the border into Vietnam where they were to hand them over to buyers.

 The case is under further investigation.
