The Vietnamese navy handed over two patrol boats to the Royal Cambodian Navy at the Ream military base in Sihanoukville, about 250 km southwest of the capital Phnom Penh on January 11.

Handover documents were signed by Vice Admiral Nguyen Van Hien, Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy and Admiral Um Samkhan, Commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy in the presence of Deputy Prime Ministers and Co-Ministers of Defence Tea Banh and Nhec Bunchay, and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army Force Ke Kim Yan.

Speaking at the function, Deputy Prime Minister and Co-Defence Minister Tea Banh thanked the Vietnamese Government and Defence Ministry for the assistance they have provided to the Cambodian army in the past years. He stressed that the gift is another vivid demonstration of the fruitful co-operation between Cambodia and Vietnam.

Vice Admiral Nguyen Van Hien expressed his hope that the tradition of mutual assistance between the people and armies of Vietnam and Cambodia would be promoted.
