Vietnam qualifies for semi-finals of ASEAN Police Football Open

The Vietnam Police Squad has become the first team qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2007 ASEAN Police Football Tournament following its 3-1 win over Lao rivals in Hanoi on August 6.

In the previous matches, Vietnam respectively triumphed over Malaysia and Yunnan (China) at 1-0 and 2-0. With a total of nine points so far, Vietnam is likely to top group A even if the team gains only a draw with Myanmar.

Meanwhile, Thailand defeated Cambodia 3-1 in Nam Dinh to temporarily top group B with six points.

The 2007 ASEAN Police Tournament Open, which began on July 31, has attracted nine teams from Yunnan (China), Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore and host Vietnam to compete in group A in Hanoi and group B in northern Nam Dinh province.
