A regional forum on compliance and enforcement of the Environment Law was jointly held in Hanoi on December 4-5 by the Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network (AECEN).

The forum, the first of its kind in Vietnam, focused on information sharing, training and enforcement of environmental regulations for the sake of sustainable development.

Delegates spent time discussing the enforcement of Vietnam’s Environment Law with a focus on laying down criteria for the implementation of the law, scheduled for 2007.

After the forum, a training course will be held from December 6-8 for Vietnamese inspectors and executive officials on the Environment Law.
