Vietnam welcomes over 1.5 million international visitors in first month of 2024
VOV.VN - International visitors to Vietnam in January reached over 1.5 million, marking an increase of 10.3% compared to December, 2023, and up 73.6% compared to the same period from last year.
International visitors to Vietnam by air accounted for the majority with 85.1%, by road at 11.7%, and by sea at 3.2%.
Asia represented the country’s largest tourist source market with an estimated 1.1 million arrivals. Coming in second was the European market with an estimated 200,000 arrivals, followed by tourists from America, Australia, and Africa.
The Vietnamese tourism industry has set a target to welcome 17 million to 18 million foreign visitors this year, with total tourism revenue reaching VND840 trillion, equal to US$34.6 billion, a figure 1.25 times the total revenue in 2023 and 1.2 times the figure seen back in 2019.
