TasteAtlas picks out seven Vietnamese dishes among Top 100 Asian foods
VOV.VN - Seven Vietnamese delicacies have been officially recognised by international cuisine magazine TasteAtlas as being among the Top 100 Asian foods.
In 27th position was Phở bò (Beef noodles). The delicacy made from beef bones, shank, ox tail, and neck, while the toppings include thinly sliced fatty brisket (gầu), flank, eye-round steak, tripe, cooked and raw beef (tái nạm), tendon (gân), or beef balls (phở bò viên).
Mì Quảng (Quang-style noodles) was placed in 37th position.
TasteAtlas revealed that the specialty consists of a combination of flat rice noodles and yellow egg noodles that are served with a small amount of flavourful meat broth and crispy fresh vegetables and herbs such as banana blossoms, lettuce, cilantro, scallions, and Vietnamese coriander.
Bánh mì thịt (Meat and cold cuts) ranked 41st. The traditional sandwich is usually enjoyed for breakfast and lunch, although the sandwiches can be eaten for any meal of the day if bought from street stall vendors.
Elsewhere, 50th position went to Bún bò nam bộ (southern Vietnamese beef noodle salad).
The main ingredients include beef, rice vermicelli noodles, garlic, fresh herbs, and vegetables, while roasted peanuts and fried shallots are entirely optional, the international cuisine magazine wrote.
TasteAtlas also placed Bò lúc lắc (Shaking beef) in 52nd position. Meanwhile, Bò kho (Beef stew) was put in 83rd position and Nước chấm (Fish sauce) came in at 86th.
Topping the list is Zhēngjiao from China. The other specialties to feature among the Top 5 includes Kahvaltı of Turkey, Butter garlic naan of India, Kateh of Iran, and Soto Betawi of Indonesia.
TasteAtlas was originally founded in 2015 and has its headquarters in Zagreb in Croatia. It is best known for its global map of traditional dishes. The rankings on Taste Atlas are based on various opinions and reviews offered by culinary experts and critics, thereby ensuring the reliability of the awards.
