Severe weather delays Vietnam Airlines flights to Hong Kong, China

VOV.VN - Hundreds of Vietnam Airline passengers heading to Hong Kong or Guangzhou (China) from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City had unexpected delays Sunday (July 23) due to severe weather.

The Vietnam News Agency reported that eight flights experienced two to four hour unanticipated layovers due to tropical storm warnings and turbulent weather that were issued due to cyclone Roke.

Roke had made landfall at Sai Kung East Country Park in Hong Kong at 10am in the morning on Sunday, weather forecasters reported, and didn’t depart the area until late in the afternoon.

Vietnam Airlines advised travellers to check the airport’s website before leaving for the terminal if traveling to areas affected by the tropical storm travelling east to west across the Asian region.
