Lao Cai int’l travel mart targets green tourism
VOV.VN - The first-ever Lao Cai International Travel Mart, themed “Lao Cai Tourism – Connecting Green Aspiration”, kicked off at the pedestrian street in Lao Cai City on June 5 evening.

The four-day exhibition features 130 booths showcasing local and international tourism businesses. A highlight of the event is a Famtrip tour, organised for a delegation of 120 travel agencies from more than 10 countries and territories.
According to Hoang Quoc Khanh, vice chairman of the Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee, the local tourism industry has achieved remarkable milestones in recent years. With over 120 years of development, the Sa Pa National Tourist Area has become a major draw, helping the province attract more than 8 million visitors and generate nearly VND27 trillion in tourism revenue in 2024.
Several destinations in Lao Cai have become iconic brands, earning recognition on both the Vietnamese and global tourism maps. Notably, the Fansipan Legend Cable Car Tourist Area won titles such as “World’s Leading Cultural Tourist Attraction 2023” and “World’s Leading Natural Nature Destination 2023.” Sa Pa was named among the Top 50 Most Beautiful Small Towns in the World, while Bac Ha Market was ranked among Southeast Asia’s most attractive traditional markets.

Amid the challenges of globalisation and climate change, Lao Cai remains firmly committed to a strategy of green and sustainable tourism development.
The theme of this year’s travel mart, “Lao Cai Tourism – Connecting Green Aspiration,” delivers a strong message reflecting the province’s determination to transform its tourism industry toward sustainability, he stressed at the opening ceremony.
He expected that the exhibition would present a valuable opportunity for tourism businesses to network, establish partnerships, and sign new contracts, all aimed at attracting a greater number of visitors to the region.
