The dish features various beef cuts and toppings, including thinly sliced brisket (gầu), flank, eye-round steak, tripe, rare and cooked beef (tái nạm), tendon (gân), and beef meatballs (phở bò viên).

Other types of phở also made the Top 25, with phở bò tái chín (Northern-style cooked and rare beef noodle soup) and phở gà (chicken noodle soup) taking 21st and 22nd places, respectively.

TasteAtlas described phở as Vietnam’s national dish, both street food and comfort food, and “a way of life.” The website also referred to the country as a “paradise of bún” (rice vermicelli dishes).

Several other Vietnamese specialties appeared on the list, including bún mọc (pork ball vermicelli soup) at 16th, bún riêu (crab and tomato noodle soup) at 31st, bún mắm (fermented fish noodle soup) at 50th, and bún bò Huế (spicy beef noodle soup from Hue) at 53rd.
