Winners of 2024 Asian Open Junior Pickleball Championships announced
The 2024 Asian Open Junior Pickleball Championships wrapped up on October 6 with Vietnamese athletes winning gold medals at events.
More than 100 athletes from Malaysia, Japan, China, India, Taiwan (China), and Vietnam competed in the tournament held in the central province of Quang Nam for 12 sets of medals in various categories, including men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles for ages from U12 to U16.
Vietnamese athletes bagged gold and silver medals at U12 men’s singles, U16 men’s singles, and U12 men’s doubles.
The four-day tournament was organised by the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quang Nam, in collaboration with the Asia Federation of Pickleball and DHL Event Media Joint Stock Company.
Pickleball in Vietnam has been gaining popularity rapidly over recent years. The sport, which combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, is appealing to a wide range of age groups thanks to its accessibility and the fun, social atmosphere it fosters.
