Vietnam wins two chess World Cup tickets
VOV.VN - Vietnam secured two chess World Cup tickets from the Zone 3.3 Chess Championships 2023, which concluded in Indonesia on May 12.
The Zone 3.3 Chess Championships 2023 saw Vo Thi Kim Phung triumph in the women’s category with 6.5 points after nine rounds. The victory means the Vietnamese girl has earned a ticket to the World Cup 2023 which will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from July 30 to August 24.
Phung’s teammate Nguyen Thi Mai Hung also claimed a silver medal in the competition.
In the men’s category, local chess player Le Tuan Minh grabbed a silver medal, helping him book a place at the World Cup 2023.
