Vietnam enjoy first win at world championship three-cushion national teams
VOV.VN - Vietnamese duo Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh got off to a smooth start at the world championship three-cushion national teams after defeating their opponents from Jordan on March 13 in the tournament held in Germany.
Vietnam have been drawn in Group C alongside the teams of Jordan, Sweden, and Belgium.
On the first competition day Bao Phuong Vinh easily trounced Al Ghababsheh of Jordan 40-7 after 23 moves.
His teammate Tran Quyet Chien found no difficulty in defeating Abu Tayeh 40-19 following 25 moves.
They will continue to face strong rivals from Sweden on March 15. The Swedish team consist of player Torbjorn Blomdahl, who won the world team championship title five times, as well as world’s No. 213 position Nalle Olsson.
The world championship three-cushion national teams began on March 13 and will last through to March 16. A total of 16 teams have been divided into four groups, with the two top teams from each group advancing to the quarter-final round.
