Vietnam draw against Myanmar in opener of AFF Futsal Championship
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese national futsal team were held to a 1-1 draw against Myanmar rivals in the opening match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship 2022 on April 4 in Thailand.
The team led by head coach Pham Minh Giang dominated the match, with Myanmar team defending valiantly for most of the game.
Indeed, the opponents made it a tough fixture for the Vietnamese side as they competed fiercely and closed down any space.
After missing several chances, the Vietnamese team opened the scoring at the end of the first half in a rapid attack thanks to Nhan Gia Hung.
In the second half, Myanmar equalized through a penalty.
The AFF Futsal Championship 2022 is running between April 2 and April 10 in Thailand. Vietnam are competing for a semifinal spot against Myanmar, Timor Leste, and Australia in Group B.
The tournament also serves as the Southeast Asian region’s qualifying tournament for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup which will take place later this year in Kuwait, with three teams advancing.
