Top female badminton player Thuy Linh climbs back into BWF Top 20
VOV.VN - Vietnamese badminton star Nguyen Thuy Linh has returned to the Top 20 in the BWF Women’s Singles World Rankings, following her strong showing at the Canada Open 2025, where she finished as runner-up.

According to the latest rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on July 8, Thuy Linh rose two spots, moving from 22nd to 20th in the world. This marks her second time entering the Top 20, having first achieved the milestone in October 2023 after strong performances at the China Masters and Arctic Open.
At the Canada Open 2025, Thuy Linh added 2,950 points to her ranking, bringing her total to 49,550 points. This improvement fulfilled her personal goal for 2025, a goal she fell short of in 2024 despite consistent efforts.
Following her successful run in Canada, Thuy Linh was expected to compete at the upcoming China Open 2025 from July 22–27, but she has withdrawn to focus on recovery and training ahead of more critical events.
Her most important upcoming challenge will be the 2025 BWF World Championships from August 25 to 31. Her improvement in the BWF’s world rankings will give her an advantage when the organisers conduct the draw for the athletes.
In the men’s singles rankings, Nguyen Hai Dang also made notable progress, climbing six spots to reach world No. 61. He is Vietnam’s male player to have the highest position in the men's rankings. He was followed by teammate Le Duc Phat, now ranked 62nd globally.
