Top badminton player eliminated from French Open

Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh was defeated in the qualifying round of the men’s singles of the Yonex French Open 2017 in Paris on October 24.

Minh lost to Scott Evans of Ireland 22-20, 18-21, 21-10. Olympian Minh is world No 65, while Evans is world No 105.

Meanwhile, Minh’s wife, Vu Thi Trang was also defeated 21-10, 21-13 by Kim Hyo-min of the Republic of Korea in the qualifiers in the women’s singles category.

The event, which runs until October 29, has a total prize fund of US$325,000. After this tourney, the couple will compete in an event in Hungary.
