Shuttlers Thuy Linh, Thi Trang earn spots at 2025 BWF World Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s top female shuttlers Nguyen Thuy Linh and Vu Thi Trang have officially secured places at the 2025 BWF World Championships, set to take place in France from August 25 to 31, the Vietnam Badminton Federation announced on July 11.

They are among the six Vietnamese spots for both men and women selected by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the August tournament in France.
Currently ranked No. 20 in the world, Thuy Linh is Vietnam’s highest ranked female player and recently delivered a strong performance on the BWF World Tour Super 300 circuit in the United States and Canada, including a runner-up finish in the women’s singles at the Canada Open.
Meanwhile, Vu Thi Trang's qualification came as a surprise. Despite not competing frequently in international tournaments recently, the Ho Chi Minh City-based athlete remains Vietnam’s second-highest-ranked female player at No. 157 in the world, earning her a coveted spot in the world championship lineup. Her most recent international appearance was at the Vietnam International Challenge 2025 held in March.
In the men’s singles division, Vietnam will be represented by Nguyen Hai Dang and Le Duc Phat, who have both received direct invitations. The two are actively competing in international tournaments, including recent stops in the US and Canada, in efforts to boost their global rankings.
Vietnam’s remaining two slots were awarded to Tran Dinh Manh and Nguyen Dinh Hoang in the men’s doubles category. The duo previously claimed victory at the Vietnam International Challenge 2025, solidifying their status among the nation’s top pairs.
The 2025 edition marks a significant leap forward for Vietnam, with six athletes qualifying — a sharp increase from just two in the 2023 BWF World Championships. This reflects the growing strength and international competitiveness of Vietnamese badminton.
