Nearly 150 local players compete at national Chinese chess championship

VOV.VN - Close to 50 Vietnamese players from 15 clubs across the country are competing in the National Chinese Chess (Xiangqi) Championship, which kicked off on April 19 in Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City.

The tournament features competitions in the men’s and women’s standard, rapid, and blitz categories, spanning various age groups.

According to the organizing committee, the championship serves as a gathering point for Vietnam's top Chinese chess talents and provides an opportunity to showcase the sport's continued growth and prominence in the country.

Additionally, the event aims to identify the most outstanding players and teams to represent Vietnam at upcoming regional and international Chinese chess tournaments, including the World Xiangqi Championship set to take place in Shanghai, China, in September.

The championship will run until April 28.
