Liem remains undefeated at Asian Continental Chess Championship
VOV.VN -The nation’s top ranked chess player Le Quang Liem has maintained his undefeated streak after playing seven matches at the ongoing Asian Continental Chess Championship 2019 in Xingtai, China.

Having achieved three wins and four draws, Liem is currently ranked in 5th position with five points, just 0.5 points less than the group’s leader.
With such a strong showing, Liem is in contention for the championship title and a top five spot which would earn him a place at the World Cup.
Liem is scheduled to play Firouzja Alireza of Iran, Elo rating 2682, in the eighth match of the competition.

His teammate, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, is on 4.5 points after seven matches played. Despite being unable to win the tournament, he is still competing for a top five finish.

In the women’s event, the Vietnamese players failed in their bid to win the championship.
The nation’s most notable performer was Pham Le Thao Nguyen who achieved 4.5 points, the highest total of the country’s representatives and is currently ranked 8th after seven matches played.
