A haul of medals for Vietnam at World Police and Fire Games 2025
VOV.VN - The Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Team have concluded their campaign at the World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) 2025 in Alabama, USA, pocketing 15 gold, four silver, and six bronze medals.

Vietnam sent 44 coaches and athletes to the games, competing in 11 of the 60 divisions including shooting, athletics, swimming, martial arts (karate, jujitsu, boxing), and fire and rescue operations.
Vietnamese shooters got off to a good start on the first competition day on June 27, securing three gold medals. Notably, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh, who won a ticket to the 2024 Summer Olympics, continued to affirm her talent in the international arena.
In swimming, major Hoang Linh Chi won all four gold medals in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle divisions. Meanwhile, lieutenant Ngan Ngoc Nghia bagged two gold medals in the men's 100m and 200m sprints.
Jujitsu fighter Le Kien made an impression after taking two gold medals in the men's 62kg Gi and NoGi categories.
“Our athletes competed with iron will, discipline, and national pride. These results reflect careful preparation, strategic investment from the Ministry of Public Security, and relentless effort from every athlete and coach,” said Colonel Nguyen Thi Thuy Thanh, head of the delegation.
First held in 1985 in the United States, the WPFG is the world's largest sporting event dedicated to professional law enforcement and firefighters every two years. The games bring together thousands of athletes from more than 70 countries, contributing to improving physical and mental health, strengthening friendship and international exchange among teams in the globe.
Vietnam began to send athletes to the games in 2023 with gold medals in karate.
The WPFG 2025 was organised in Birmingham (Alabama, USA), from June 27 to July 6. The next games will take place in Perth, Australia, in 2027.
