Vietnam’s fatality count rises to 13 after 2 more COVID-19 deaths confirmed

VOV.VN - Two more COVID-19 patients in Vietnam died of severe underlying health conditions and COVID-19 infection on the morning of August 10, taking the national fatality count to 13, according to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son.

The first death (patient 430) was a 33-year old Da Nang resident with a end-stage chronic renal failure, heart failure, hypertension, and sepsis.

On July 26, the patient tested positive for SARS-COV-2 and the following days, the patient was transferred to Hue Central General Hospital and had continuous dialysis and was placed on a ventilator after suffering severe complications.

The causes of her death included Severe COVID-19 pneumonia, complications of irreversible multiorgan failure, toxic septic shock, end-stage chronic renal failure, cyclical peritoneal dialysis and hypertensive heart failure.

The second fatality , 47 known as 747 female patient also from the central city of Da Nang, with a history of end-stage chronic renal failure, hemodialysis and stent insertion, heart failure, and hypertension.

On August 4, the patient had the second test result positive for SARS-COV-2 twice and was transferred to the Department of Active Rehabilitation of Da Nang Hospital.

On August 9, the patient suffered respiratory failure, and then went in to a deep coma one day later. She passed away on early August 10 morning.

Diagnosis of her death was due to myocardial infarction, heart failure, end-stage chronic renal failure, cyclic artificial kidney and COVID-19.

By August 10 morning, Vietnam recorded a total of 11 fatalities related to the novel coronavirus, with most of them having multiple comorbidities.
