Vietnam to upgrade six hospitals to international standards
VOV.VN - Vietnam is expected to establish six hospitals meeting international standards to enhance the quality of healthcare services and meet the growing health needs of its population.

The six healthcare facilities to be upgraded will be Bach Mai Hospital, Viet Duc (Vietnam - Germany) Friendship Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, 108 Central Military Hospital, and 175 Military Hospital.
These hospitals will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, advanced medical technologies, and partnerships with international experts and organizations to ensure quality standards.
With a rising and aging population, the need for high-quality medical services is increasing. People want access to advanced medical technologies and international-standard healthcare services without having to travel abroad.
Every year, many Vietnamese seek medical treatment abroad, resulting in significant foreign currency outflows. In addition, upgrading domestic hospitals helps to attract not only domestic patients but also those from other countries, contributing to the national economy.
The upgrade is part of a plan to implement the national masterplan on the healthcare facility network the 2021–2030 period, with a vision toward 2050, recently approved by the Prime Minister.
The plan focuses on detailing tasks and solutions, mobilizing resources, and assigning responsibilities to ministries, central agencies, and local authorities in implementing the master plan. It also outlines a roadmap for implementing a list of prioritized investment projects, identifying key areas, timelines, and resources for execution.
The plan highlights the priority investment in the construction of the Central Highlands Central Hospital and national coordination centers for organ transplantation in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
In the field of preventive and public health care, priority will be given to building a central disease control center and three regional disease control centers.
In the field of population and reproductive health, priority will be given to establishing two centers for prenatal and neonatal screening and diagnosis in Thai Nguyen and Dak Lak. Six existing centers for prenatal and neonatal screening and diagnosis will be upgraded in Hanoi, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho.
