Vietnam to evacuate 226 guestworkers in distress from Uzbekistan
VOV.VN - 226 Vietnamese workers who have been left stranded in Uzbekistan due to the impact of the COVID-19 will be brought home soon, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The decision was made following a working session on July 24 between representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant ministries, agencies and the company that sent Vietnamese workers to Uzbekistan.
Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia received a letter by representatives of 226 Vietnamese employees who are working for China Petroleum Jili Chemical Engineering and Construction Co.,Ltd (JCC) in Karshi city, Uzbekistan.
In the letter, the workers said they were facing difficulties in daily life, at work, and in COVID-19 prevention and control, therefore they called for help from the embassy to return to Vietnam soon.
Right after learning about the information, the Consular Department under the Foreign Ministry coordinated with the embassy and the company that sent the workers to Uzbekistan to clarify the case.
