VFF President presents Tet gifts to deprived people in Tra Vinh

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan presented 200 Tet gifts worth VND200 million (US$8,996) to impoverished households in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh on January 31.

The VFF leader conveyed Tet (Lunar New Year) greetings to local people, saying that in the past few years, the front and the Vietnam Red Cross have called on organisations and individuals to provide financial support to help poor people build houses.

He hoped that in the coming time, needy households will make concerted efforts to escape poverty.

On the same day, he attended the opening ceremony of the Tra Vinh Truc Lam Buddhist Zen Monastery in Bien Ba Dong mangrove forest ecological zone in Truong Long Hoa commune, Duyen Hai town.
