The strongest winds close to the centre of the tropical depression were estimated at between 40km and 50km per hour.
During the next 24 hours, the tropical low pressure is expected to develop into a typhoon, with the strongest winds close to the eye of the storm reaching between 62km and 75km per hour.
Over the course of the next 48 hours, the typhoon will then continue to track east at a speed of 5km per hour. During this period, it will further strengthen and see a sustained wind speed of between 60km and 88km per hour at its centre.
Due to the impending impact of the tropical depression combined with the cold air, there will be an array of showers and scattered thunderstorms in the middle and northern part of the East Sea and in the waters of coastal provinces from Quang Nam to Khanh Hoa, causing rough seas and high waves of between two and four metres.
