Switzerland offers 13 tonnes of medical supplies to Vietnam
VOV.VN -The Swiss Government will provide aid comprised of 13 tonnes of medical supplies to the nation, with the donation to arrive at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City on August 13, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland.
The relief shipment is valued at a total of VND125 billion, equivalent to CHF5 million, and consists of 30 ventilators, 500,000 antigen test kits, and 300,000 antibacterial masks. The donation comes following a visit to the nation by Swiss Vice President and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis from August 6 to August 8.
During the course of the recent visit, the Swiss Vice President shared the difficulties the country is currently encountering in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, both sides agreed that the two nations should continue to share their experience in COVID-19 prevention and control, while implementing a roadmap for economic recovery. This should be done alongside ramping up bilateral co-operation in the health sector, especially in relation to the transfer of production technology for vaccines and drugs which can treat COVID-19 patients.
The aid package represents both a precious and timely gift from the Swiss Government, demonstrating the sound friendship and fruitful co-operation ties between both sides over the past five decades.
