Spring volunteer campaign in HCM City
VOV.VN - As many as 30,000 local students participated in the tenth edition of the Spring Volunteer Campaign, which was officially launched in Ho Chi Minh City on January 14.
In her remarks, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu highlighted the event as a contribution to raising awareness of municipal students about social welfare activities through their visits to and support support Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, policy beneficiaries and families of soldiers in border and island areas.
This year's six major programmes, include a programme marking the 50th anniversary of the Mau Than Offensive in Spring 1968 and another introducing cultural values and customs of new year celebrations of Vietnam’s ethnic groups as well as other countries.
Several programmes for disadvantaged students, children and poor patients in the city, along with soldiers in border and island regions were also planned. Participants's visits the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 4 Command and Tho Chu island of the southern province of Kien Giang are also part of these programs.
