President’s 2025 amnesty decision announced
VOV.VN - The Presidential Office held a press conference on March 4 in Hanoi to announce the President’s the 2025 amnesty decision.

The amnesty grants early release to eligible prisoners serving fixed-term or life sentences on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).
The period of sentence served for amnesty consideration is counted up to April 30, 2025. Eligible individuals include those serving fixed-term sentences, those whose life sentences have been commuted to fixed terms, and those currently on temporary suspension of sentence execution.
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Office Pham Thanh Ha emphasized that since 2009, the State has conducted 10 rounds of amnesty on major national occasions, granting clemency to nearly 100,000 inmates with good records of rehabilitation, work, and study, there by enabling them to reintegrate into society.
These amnesty decisions has met political, legal, and diplomatic requirements, earning widespread public approval and international recognition.
Through presidential amnesty decisions, tens of thousands of individuals have been granted clemency, reunited with their families, and given the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
Most pardoned individuals have returned to their communities, stabilized their lives, and engaged in lawful livelihoods, with the rate of recidivism remaining very low.
