Over 3,000 corruption, economic, and smuggling cases busted in first half
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Public Security busted more than 3,000 corruption, economic, and smuggling cases involving over 4,900 defendants in the first half of the year.

This information was released at a conference held by the Ministry on July 8 to review its first half of the year performance with the participation of State President To Lam.
The number of cases and defendants stood at 21.63% and 47.12% higher compared to the same period from last year.
According to Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To, the fight against crime has intensified as the Ministry discovered increasingly complex methods being used by criminals. During the reviewed period, the Ministry launched an investigation into 22,022 crimes related to social order, higher than the target set by the National Assembly.
The Ministry stepped up the investigation and handling of major cases and new cases, said Deputy Minister To.
The public security force has since carried out drastic measures aimed at implementing the Government's Project 06 on developing the application of population data, e-identification, and authentication for the purpose of national digital transformation. Indeed, the rate of online public service provision in the first six months hit 97.13%.
Regarding salvage and rescue efforts, the Ministry performed 581 rescues and saved a total of 362 people.
The State leader hailed the Ministry for its various achievements in the first half of the year and ordered the force to continue to focus primarily on anti-corruption work as well as both preventing and combating negative phenomena and corruption.
The Ministry has been urged to be strategic about its performance, protecting national security, fighting crimes, and continuing to expand international cooperation in security. This should be done whilst maintaining safety, order, discipline, and maintaining the socio-economic health of the country, along with striving to strengthen international integration.
President Lam outlined his hopes that the force will overcome all difficulties and fulfill all tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people, first of all successfully realizing the resolutions of the Party and the Ministry’s Party Central Committee.
