Organisations honoured for contributions to Truong Sa fund

The Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee honoured 20 organisations in recognition of their outstanding contributions in raising the “For beloved Truong Sa” fund at a conference in the city on June 7.

The city’s Party Committee and Fatherland Front Committee started to raise the fund on March 30 and by May 30, they had collected more than VND45.5 billion, or US$2.03 million, from donors across Hanoi.

According to Chairman of the municipal Fatherland Front Committee Vu Hong Khanh, VND35 billion of the sum will be sent to soldiers and residents living in Truong Sa island district, while the remaining will be used to run programmes in support of the district.

The fundraising activities aim to inspire patriotism among local residents and raise their responsibility for protecting their sovereignty.
