One dies of hand-foot-mouth disease in Dak Lak

VOV.VN - A child has died of hand-foot-mouth disease in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, according to the provincial Preventive Medicine Centre.

Doctor Pham Van Lao, director of the Dak Lak Preventive Medicine Centre said the two-year old patient lived in Ea Drang town, Ea H’leo district. The child was hospitalized on October 31 with initial symptoms such as tiredness, high fever and vomit.

Doctors diagnosed that the child was infected with hand-foot-mouth disease. He was sent to Children's Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City after his health got worse. However, he died on the way to the hospital.

The provincial centre has directed the district preventive medicine centre to closely follow the development of the disease and sterilize the area to prevent it from spreading on a large scale.
