Military run telecom giant Viettel exports 5G equipment to Middle East
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation (VHT) has recently signed a tripartite agreement with partners to deploy Vietnamese telecom equipment into the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company's network, one of the leading telecom operators in the United Arab Emirates.

Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation signed the document with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company and High Cloud Technologies Group, while showing its product and technologies at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025 held from March 3 – 6.
This marks the first time that telecommunications equipment produced in Vietnam has been integrated into the network of a foreign telecom operator.
According to Nguyen Tien Long, deputy director of the Business Centre at Viettel High Tech Industries Corporation, this agreement is not only a commercial deal but also a strategic milestone, serving as a “quality assurance” case study for Viettel’s equipment.
Viettel High Tech Industries Corporation earlier signed a multi-million-dollar contract with High Cloud Technologies Group to supply 4G and 5G Non-Standalone base stations, along with cloud-based core network infrastructure.
Long revealed that Viettel’s equipment has been tested by HCT in the UAE, Turkey, Iraq, Oman, and Yemen. If the tests yield the expected results, HCT may continue supplying Viettel’s equipment to other telecom operators.
Meanwhile, Salah Ali, CEO of HCT, stated HCT and Viettel aim to deliver cost-effective, easily deployable solutions that meet the private network needs of various industries, opening up new business opportunities in the rapidly digitalizing Middle East region.
The CEO noted that the group’s goal for 2025 is to deploy large-scale 5G Private networks, support regional telecom operators in modernizing their core infrastructure and RAN networks, and help them successfully transition from 4G to 5G.
At MWC Barcelona 2025, Viettel exhibited 22 products across three key categories of network infrastructure, digital platforms, and applications. Specifically, the network infrastructure solutions on display include its 5G ecosystem (5G Private, 5G ORAN, 5G Core), self-designed semiconductor chips (RF-SoC, security chips, 5W X-Band FEM chips), digital twins for telecom stations, and logistics robotics systems.
The digital platform offerings, meanwhile, range from Application Programming Interface (API) services, content delivery networks and a data centre management system to new-generation cybersecurity platforms and intelligent traffic management solutions.
The category of digital applications includes virtual assistant, meCall video ringtone, Mydio audiobook, and TV360 streaming services.
