Large haul of smuggled cigarettes seized in Quang Ninh

The Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department, working as part of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, discovered two boats travelling at high speeds whilst on patrol in the waters of Van Don district at 22:30. Upon recording the coordinates of the vessels, 210 11. 538N/1070 38. 019E, the officials went to investigate.  

Upon noticing the police forces, several suspects fled to another high-speed boat before escaping. In the process they left two speed boats and the entirety of the cargo behind.

Upon recovering the haul, customs officials confirmed they seized 50,330 packs of cigarettes bearing the labels of foreign brands such as BLEND NO.555 (gold); ESSE AURA (green); ESSE AURA (Pink).

The authorities are now conducting a further investigation into the case.
