VOV.VN -During the ‘ghost month’, beginning on August 14 and ending on September 12, Vietnamese people offer food, many types of fruit and votive papers to hungry ghosts who supposedly wander the streets and drop into some houses.

The seventh month in the lunar calendar is believed to be the time when ghosts and spirits come out from the lower realm and visit the living.
Thus, the ‘ghost month’ is typically associated with bad luck.
