Hanoi People’s Council to question food safety supervision
VOV.VN - The Hanoi People’s Council will question officials on food safety enforcement this week, as part of broader discussions on the city’s economic performance and orientations for the remainder of 2025.

The Hanoi People’s Council on July 8 opened its 25th session (tenure 2021–2026), which runs through July 10 to assess the city’s socio-economic development in the first half of 2025, set out tasks for the remainder of the year, and deliberate key issues.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan emphasized that the 25th session was convened to review the capital’s socio-economic development, national defence and security, and budget revenues and expenditures in the first half of the year, as well as tasks and solutions for the remainder of 2025 and other key issues under the Council’s jurisdiction. The session comes just after both the city and the country completed the transition to a two-tier local government structure.
The Council will evaluate the implementation of Hanoi’s socioeconomic development plan and other core political tasks for the first half of the year. According to Tuan, alongside the administrative restructuring, the city has stepped up efforts in boosting growth and ensuring social welfare.
In the first six months, Hanoi recorded GRDP growth of 7.69%, budget revenue of VND392.71 trillion (76.5% of the annual target, up 51.4% year-on-year), and nearly US$3.7 billion in foreign direct investment, 2.2 times higher than the same period in 2024. Political stability and public order were maintained, and progress was seen in both urban and rural development, as well as in cultural field and social affairs.

Since the Capital Law took effect, the Council has issued 28 resolutions across regular and special sessions. This meeting is expected to adopt nine more, covering a wide range of areas such as strategic investment attraction, development of cultural industry zones, land use along riverbanks, plastic waste reduction, and welfare policies such as social and health insurance for eligible groups.
Specialized resolutions on finance and public spending will also be tabled, including policies to support agricultural production, SME growth, investment incentives through land rent exemptions, and subsidies for school meal programs for primary students.
This session will also feature a Q&A segment, with two major areas in focus. One will revisit the implementation of previous commitments made at the Council’s 20th session. The other will examine how food safety laws are being enforced in the city.
This session of the Hanoi People’s Council will also feature a Q&A, focusing on two major areas: the implementation of the Council’s resolutions and the fulfillment of commitments and pledges made at its 20th session; and the enforcement of food safety regulations across the city.
Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan called on all members of the Hanoi People’s Council to uphold their legal responsibilities and powers, demonstrate a strong sense of accountability, democracy, and wisdom, and actively engage in thorough research and discussion to contribute thoughtful, high-quality opinions, thus helping ensure a successful and productive meeting.
