Hanoi city gears up for DPRK-USA Summit

Hanoi - the UNESCO’s City of Peace - is making meticulous preparations for the upcoming summit between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the US, aiming to affirm Vietnam and Hanoi’s position and prestige in the international arena.

Preparation underway at the international media centre

The municipal People’s Committee has called on local people to join hands to popularise Hanoi’s image as a friendly and hospitable destination by complying with transport regulations as well as protecting the environment and public landscapes. Hanoians are also urged to remove encroachments on pavements.

According to Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports To Van Dong, his department is accelerating communications on this important event, with banners and posters decorated at hotels, airport area and along the streets of Vo Nguyen Giap, Le Quang Dao, Giang Vo and Lang-Truong Chinh.

Strict punishments have been meted out to any advertisement violations, he added.

Hosting the rare summit is a tremendous chance for Vietnam to demonstrate its responsibility for the international community as well as its wish to make contributions to regional and global peace.

Thousands of foreign journalists have registered to come to Hanoi to cover the event, and they will help introduce Vietnam and Hanoi’s achievements to the world.
