Long An Segaero hospital run by the Republic of Korea has provided free operations for 54 kids born with heart defects from all parts of the Mekong Delta at a total cost of US$810,000 this year.

Most of the children have been brought to the Republic of Korea for post-surgical treatment.

As many as 100 patients in Duc Hoa district, where the hospital is stationed, have enjoyed free medical check-ups, treatment and medicine supply for life.

Director Woo Seok Jeoung said his hospital and the Medical and Pharmaceutical Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City will conduct free surgery on another 50 children born with heart problems in the Mekong Delta in 2008.

The well-equipped Long An Segaero Hospital applies advanced technology in diagnosis and treatment with RoK doctors’ direct involvement.

 

The hospital has spent money building 10 homes, each worth VND9 million, for the poor.
