EU supports life-long learning in Vietnam

Education contributes to generating economic growth that presents both social and monetary benefits and enables individuals to pursue stimulating career opportunities at every stage of their lives.
The EU Delegation and Vietnam joint education forum brought together hundreds of policy makers, educators, researchers, and members of the public at large to exchange views on education.
Participants shared the latest research findings, as well as developments in legislative, financial, and organizational frameworks for supporting lifelong learning in various countries of the EU and ASEAN.
Tom Corrie, deputy head of the EU Delegation to the Vietnam Cooperation and Development Section, said Vietnam is one of the ASEAN countries receiving the greatest support from the EU.
Currently, the EU is assisting 18 research projects in Vietnam education, mainly in energy and agriculture, said Mr Corrie, noting there are plans in the works to expand support in the education management sphere.
There are now 15,000 Vietnamese students attending universities throughout Europe and that figure is expected to increase significantly over the next few years, Mr Corrie added.
On November 4, it was unveiled the EU Delegation will host a European education exhibition at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology with 22 participating universities from France, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands and Ireland.
