Education is pivotal, Faust tells Vietnamese students
VOV.VN -More than 100 students, teachers, and administrators from Fulbright University Vietnam, gathered to hear from Harvard President Drew Faust, one of America’s strongest advocates for getting a college education.
In her remarks at the University’s campus in Ho Chi Minh City, Faust encouraged her listeners to believe in themselves and to commit to the goal of gaining a higher education.
You have extraordinary gifts, she declared, and an extraordinary institution here in HCM City that is nurturing them.

I encourage each of you to share those gifts by continuing your education – and building on what has been given to you here, to reach out more broadly to wider worlds and new places, educating others as you educate yourselves and build your futures.
University President Dam Bich Thuy in turn expressed his strong belief that the deep connection between FUV and Harvard will be an important driver in the effort to transform the educational experience in Vietnam.
Faust’s visit included a tour of the school, where she spoke with young students, and a roundtable discussion with teachers on topics that ranged from financial aid to college preparedness and retention programs.
