East Sea research works awarded in Hanoi

Seventeen outstanding research works and press stories on the East Sea were honoured by the Foundation for East Sea Studies (FESS) during a ceremony held in Hanoi on March 19.

The awards were granted to five press stories, 11 theses, and one research project on the East Sea.

Speaking at the event, FESS Director Tran Truong Thuy said this year’s entries cover diverse contents ranging from politics, economy, law, communications, to education history and policies of Vietnam, mostly done by young researchers working in research institutes and universities at home and abroad.

Former FESS Director Le Van Cuong, Chairman of the jury board, said the board received 57 works in both Vietnamese and English languages by 65 authors this year.

He wished that the FESS would partner with ministries and agencies concerned to continue raising public awareness of the East Sea, contributing to strengthening Vietnam’s arguments in the cause of safeguarding sea and island sovereignty for the sake of peace and stability in the East Sea.

Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy, FESS Chairman said winning entries need to be added into school curricula and become a source of references for policymakers.
