The event was jointly held by several Vietnamese educational institutions like Vietnam National University - Hanoi and Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the French Embassy in Vietnam and France’s Paul Valéry University of Montpellier 3.

Participants focused their discussions on the role of Dien Bien Phu victory for the region and the world as well as development prospects for relations between Vietnamese and French localities.

The Dien Bien Phu Campaign lasted from March to May 1954 under the command of General Vo Nguyen Giap. Vietnam’s victory on May 7, 1954 led to the signing of the 1954 Geneva Accords in which France agreed to withdraw its forces from its colonies in Indochina.
