Dak Lak terrorist attack culprits receive stiff prison sentences
VOV.VN - The People’s Court of Dak Lak province in the Central Highlands region on January 20 imposed stiff sentences on those involved in terrorist attacks on local communal offices last June, killing nine officials and people.

Ten defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment on terror charges aimed at overthrowing the people’s administration according to Clause 1, Article 113 of the Penal Code.
Forty-three other defendants facing similar charges were sentenced to between 6 – 20 years in prison.
Forty-five defendants, including six living abroad, charged with terrorism received prison sentences of between 3 years 6 months and 11 years.
The court also sentenced defendant Le Van Nghia to two years on a charge of organizing illegal exit or entry for others, and defendant Y Cing Bya to nine months on a charge of concealing crime.
Ninety-four defendants were brought to court on January 16. Six other defendants who were living abroad were tried in absentia. In the courtroom, the defendants all pleaded guilty.
The Dak Lak Provincial People's Court said it would coordinate with domestic and foreign agencies to extradite six convicted defendants put on special international wanted list to Vietnam to serve their sentences.
According to the indictment, the convicted joined a group of armed ethnic minority people who raided the headquarters of the People’s Committee of Ea Ktur and Ea Tieu communes in Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province, on June 10, 2023 evening, killing four local police officers and injuring two others.
On the way back, they continued to destroy people’s property, took 3 local people as hostages, blocked a car and killed two commune officials and three other people.
This is a particularly serious case that was aided and abetted by several elements living in exile aimed at overthrowing the government and establishing the so-called Dega State.
