COVID-19: National infections total 1,343 with two imported cases recorded

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on November 29 reported the discovery of two more imported COVID-19 cases, all Vietnamese, taking the overall number of infections in the country to 1,343.

The newly detected patients entered Vietnam from Japan on flight VN5301 on November 14 and flight VJ7837 on November 27. They have been put into isolation upon their arrival at Can Tho International Airport in Can Tho city and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.

The two patients are now receiving COVID-19 treatment at local hospitals after they were diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Earlier on November 28, two Vietnamese returnees from Japan and Russia were also confirmed to contract the virus.

By November 29, the infection tally stand at 1,343, with locally transmitted cases at 691, and imported cases at 652 which were immediately put into quarantine upon entry.

Among the patients undergoing treatment, 25 tested negative for the virus at least once or twice.

As many as 1,179 coronavirus patients have been declared free from the virus so far, while the fatality count due to COVID-10 remains unchanged at 35.

Currently, more than 15,370 people who returned from overseas or had contact with COVID-19 patients are being placed in quarantine for medical surveillance across the nation.
