Counterfeit money trafficking ring busted in Lang Son
(VOV) -Border guards and police in the northern province of Lang Son have arrested a man suspected of transporting counterfeit money worth VND620 million (about US$30,000) from China into Vietnam.
Vu Ngoc Thang, born in 1984 from Hanoi’s My Duc district, was arrested on August 1 carrying 3,100 bank notes with denomination of VND200,000 into Vietnam through Lang Son’s Tan Thanh border gate.

Thang confessed he had been hired by an unknown person to transport a box of counterfeit money to Vietnam for VND1 million (more than US$45).
Further investigation into the case is underway.
Earlier, customs officers in Lang Son’s Loc Binh district detained two men trying to hide two black plastic bags of counterfeit money totaling VND100 million (US$4.500).
The traffickers were Lanh Van Long, born in 1981, and Duong Van En, born in 1988, both from the northern province of Bac Giang.
They were said to have brought counterfeit money from China to Vietnam.
