Chinese national imprisoned for falsifying documents in Vietnam
VOV.VN - The People’s Court of Hanoi on October 8 sentenced a Chinese citizen to a two year jail term for falsifying documents in his attempt to stay and work illegally in Vietnam.
Li Ye Sheng, 50, illegally entered Vietnam in February 2020 and has since lived and worked for a local company in Hanoi. He can speak Vietnamese well.
To legalise his status, he secretly purchased an identification card and a fake driving license bearing a Vietnamese name on the internet.
Li asked one of his colleagues to rent a house to stay in Dai Mo ward, Ha Dong district, but he had neither lived nor reported to local administration about his residence.
Nobody living near his house had discovered the Chinese man until relevant agencies conducted an administrative inspection and found Li had possessed fake papers.
In the courtroom, the man made a true confession of his crime.
According to the court’s ruling, Li will be expelled from the Vietnamese territory after he serves two years in prison.
