Chinese citizen arrested for property theft in Vietnam
VOV.VN - The police of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Tri provinces have detained a Chinese national charged with stealing property in Vietnam.
Huang Lin Zhong, 47, was arrested at a guesthouse in Dong Ha city of Quang Tri province after stealing an Italian white gold necklace in Thua Thien-Hue province.
On June 7 Huang went to Hanh Hoa jewelry store in Vincom commercial center in Hue city pretending to buy jewelry.
Taking advantage of the employee’s inattention, the Chinese citizen quickly stole an Italian white gold necklace worth more than VND31.4 million and fled away to Quang Tri province.
On hearing about the news, the police of Thua Thien-Hue in collaboration with their colleagues in Quang Tri province launched an operation hunting for the suspect.
Huang was later detained at Long Giang lodging house in Dong Ha city of Quang Tri province where he was hiding.
According to preliminary investigations, after entering Vietnam on May 17, 2023, Huang traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, where he bought a motorbike for property theft from north to south.
Currently, the police are putting the finishing touches to the dossier to handle the case according to regulations.
