Another imported case from India raises national total to 1,110
VOV.VN - An Indian expert was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus, bringing the national total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,110, the Ministry of Health reported on October 12.
The 35-year-old male patient was transferred to an isolation area in Ho Chi Minh City on October 6 after entering Tan Son Nhat Airport on flight 6E9471.
His first test result was negative for the SAR-CoV-2 virus on October 7 and three days later, his second one came back positive for the virus. Currently, he is in quarantine to receive treatment at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City.
Of the country’s total cases, 691 individuals contracted COVID-19 locally, with 551 infections being recorded since July 25 following the resurgence of a fresh outbreak in the central city of Da Nang.
The same day, one COVID-19 patient was successfully released from hospital after going on to make a full recovery from the virus.
The overall number of recoveries has risen to 1,025, while a total of 35 people have passed away due to the disease.
Among those still receiving treatment, 25 have since tested negative for COVID-19 at least once, with many testing negative multiple times.
At present, there are 16,160 people who came into close contact with registered cases, or returned from pandemic-hit regions are under quarantine, including 282 at hospitals nationwide, and the remainder based at other sites, at home, or at various accommodation facilities.
October 12 marks the 40th consecutive day without any COVID-19 cases being transmitted locally within the nation.
