250-kg wartime bomb found in Phu Tho
VOV.VN - A 1.4-meter-long wartime bomb weighing approximately 250 kilograms has been discovered in Khai Xuan commune, Phu Tho province.

The bomb, measuring 0.35 meters in diameter, was discovered by local residents while they were laying the foundation for a new house.
Upon being notified, the Thanh Ba District Military Command promptly relocated the bomb to the training ground of Regiment 753 in Yen Duong commune, Cam Khe district, where it was safely detonated in accordance with regulations.
According to military officials, the bomb is believed to be a remnant of the US war in Vietnam.
Authorities have urged residents not to attempt to handle or disarm any discovered bombs, mines, or explosive materials. Instead, they should immediately inform local military units to ensure safe and proper disposal, preventing potential hazards.
Vietnam remains one of the most heavily affected countries by unexploded ordnance (UXO).
Today, UXO remains buried underground in almost all provinces and cities, contaminating approximately 5.6 million hectares of land, equivalent to 17.71% of the country’s total area.
