Welcoming ceremony for Crown Princess of Sweden in Hanoi

VOV.VN - Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh hosted a welcoming ceremony for Crown Princess of Sweden Victoria Ingrid Alice Désiree at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi on the afternoon of May 6.

The official visit to Vietnam by Crown Princess of Sweden Victoria Ingrid Alice Désiree is being made at the invitation of Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Sweden (1969-2019).

Victoria was born in 1977 in Solna, Stockholm County, Sweden and is the oldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Pictured is the convoy of the Swedish Crown Princess heading to the Presidential Palace.

Victoria's ambassadorial role has made important contributions to Sweden's foreign affairs. In addition to her mother tongue, the Crown Princess is fluent in French, English and German.

Talks were held after the welcome ceremony. Sweden is now an important partner of Vietnam in Europe. The nordic nation has provided Vietnam with a total of US$3.4 billion in non-refundable aid. Two-way trade turnover in 2018 reached over US$1.8 billion.

Sweden ranks 34th out of 134 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with 67 valid projects with a total registered capital of US$ 347 million. Business operations of a number of renowned Swedish groups such as Ericson, Electrolux, IKEA, ABB have proved effective in Vietnam.

After the official welcoming ceremony and the talks, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh invites the Crown Princess to visit President Ho Chi Minh's relic site at the Presidential Palace.
