Vietnam, Mozambique to boost all-around cooperation
VOV.VN - Vietnam is ready to share its experience with Mozambique in aquaculture and agro-aquatic product processing as part of efforts to help ensure food security in the African nation and throughout the wider region.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan made the statement at a meeting with Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi, who is also President of the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo) Party, on September 12 in Maputo.
VP Xuan outlined that the Vietnamese Party and State highly value the position and role of Frelimo in Mozambique, as well as the country’s role in Africa as a whole.
For his part, President Nyusi hailed VP Xuan’s visit and expressed his belief that the trip, together with high-ranking delegation exchanges between the two countries, will serve to create fresh momentum for the bilateral multi-faceted co-operation in the time ahead.
The Mozambican President noted his admiration for Vietnamese historical struggles for national liberation, going on to commend its ongoing achievements in national construction and development.
Mozambique views the nation as its most important partner in Southeast Asia and is resolved to boost linkages with the country through the Party and State channels, he affirmed.
The host and guest both positively noted co-operation outcomes recorded over the past nearly five decades, especially in politics-diplomacy, agriculture, telecoms, and education-training, as well as co-ordination between the two countries in multinational forums like the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement.
They consented to intensify delegation exchanges and meetings which take place at high levels and those taking place through the Party, State, and people-to-people exchange channels.
The President pledged to offer optimal conditions possible for Vietnamese businesses to invest in the African country in areas such as telecoms and mining, suggesting that the Vietnamese side open a vocational school in Mozambique and send medical experts to the country.
The occasion saw VP Xuan convey an invitation from President Vo Van Thuong to the Mozambican leader to visit Vietnam in the near future. President Nyusi accepted the invitation with pleasure.
The same day saw the Vietnamese VP meet with President of the Assembly of Mozambique Esperança Bias who reiterated the positive sentiments of the Mozambican legislature and people to their Vietnamese counterparts.
VP Xuan went on to underline the importance the country places on the co-operation and traditional friendship with Mozambique, including bilateral legislative ties, which, she said, should be enhanced in the time ahead.
The two leaders pledged to carry forward the role of the two legislatures in supervision, closely co-operate and support each other in inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and practically and effectively materialize the memorandum of understanding reached by the two parliaments on the occasion of the trip to Vietnam made by Bias last year.
Bias affirmed her support for bilateral economic ties, suggesting that the two sides strengthen ties in telecoms, lauding the operations of Movitel – a joint venture between Vietnam’s Viettel Group and Mozambique’s SPI company, especially its contributions to digital transformation of the Mozambican legislature.
The two sides agreed to prioritise collaboration in aquaculture and agriculture, foster stronger links in trade, education-training and tourism, expand ties in other potential areas like mining and culture, and exchange experience in ensuring gender equality.
While in Mozambique, VP Xuan held a meeting with Roque Silva, secretary-general of Frelimo, during which the Vietnamese Vice President expressed her impressions of development achievements Mozambique has recorded under the leadership of the Party.
In response, Silva affirmed the Party and the Mozambican Government’s consistent policy of consolidating the good cooperation with the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Vietnamese State.
The two sides agreed on the need for the two Parties and States to further put in place outcomes for online talks held between General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and Filipe Nyusi in June, 2022, intensify co-operation in personnel training, and forge bilateral economic ties.
To create a framework for further co-operation, the two sides consented to accelerate the signing of an agreement between the two Parties in the new period.
VP Xuan conveyed an invitation from Truong Thi Mai, permanent member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat, for Silva to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
During her stay in Mozambique, the VP met with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the country.
She also received President of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) Agostinho Vuma and representatives from outstanding Mozambican firms.
